ARGUING IN FAVOR OF XBOX GAME PASS: QUICK TAKE #5

I'm not an Indian Jones guy. I didn't grow up watching the movies, nor have I ever played any of the Indy games. I don't have anything against the guy, actually, he seems pretty neat, but he was just one of those characters from a franchise that just never grabbed me from the outside looking in. So, why am I bringing up Indiana Jones if I'm making it clear that I have no interest in him? Well, I love video games, and if I ever developed an interest in wanting to experience an Indiana Jones story, I know that I have the option to do so through Xbox Game Pass since Indiana Jones and The Great Circle was recently launched there as a day one release.

What I'm trying to convey is that Xbox Game Pass has played an important role in me expanding my gaming horizons. The low barrier to entry allows me to try a game like Indiana Jones and The Great Circle without the risk of the up front cost that would have normally turned me away from a title like this. This doesn't just apply to AAA games like Indy though, it serves as a great tool to experience smaller, more out there titles that I may have been hesitant to spend cash on without having the disposable income for it. Many people fall into this category, which is why Game Pass is a fantastic option for any and all gamers.

However, I think it's important to note that while I do use Game Pass to remove the financial risk of trying a new game I may or may not like, I do believe that developers of these titles deserve to be paid for their incredible work. Developers who bring their games to Game Pass will negotiate fees with Microsoft for allowing their games to be accessed through the service. This is why I'm happy to pay $20 a month for the service, because I feel that is well worth the price to experience new games and support developers, in addition to buying their games when I am able to.

However, of course, the monthly cost of Game Pass isn't accessible for everyone. But I do feel that if Game Pass is your only way to access games, then you're still in a very good position as a gamer. If you subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate at $20 a month, you have instant access to a vast library of over 500 games for a fraction of the cost of a AAA title. Not to mention games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Starfield, and many more incredible AAA titles releasing day one to try on Game Pass making the deal even more enticing.

To wrap this up, whether you're a casual gamer on a budget, or you're a seasoned vet who games on every platform, Game Pass will undoubtedly enhance your gaming experience. With the ability to access the service through Cloud Gaming on almost any smart device with a screen, and the reasonable pricing across it's multiple tiers, it's a great way to experience a wealth of games new and old. I didn't grow up playing Xbox, but with Game Pass, I can experience the Halo series, for example, without having to dig up old physical copies of the game. If you can afford it, and you are looking to expand your gaming horizons, you've gotta get Game Pass!
